Learn strategies for searching our recently acquired databases Mergent Online and SRDS Local Market Audience Analyst, along with these favorites ABI Inform, Business and Company Resource Center, and ReferenceUSA. Beyond Wikipedia – What Else Is Out There?
Explore electronic reference sources beyond Wikipedia for quick, easy, and reliable research.  There is a world of online dictionaries, encyclopedias, and other reference tools available to you through the Library’s electronic resources.  Learn how sources such as Oxford Reference Online, Gale Virtual Reference Library, and others can help jump-start your research project and improve your research skills.   This workshop is for students, faculty and anyone interested in expanding their research horizons and upgrading the quality of their research results. RefWorks – A Research Organization and Writing Tool
Learn the basics of RefWorks and take the guesswork out of “proper citation format.” RefWorks will help you create bibliographies, insert in-text citations, and efficiently organize all the resources gathered for your research projects. Research Strategies in Education

Want to know more about integrating Internet resources and research database searching?  This one is for you!  Learn online searching techniques to help you locate the best resources for your topic in both information arenas. Primary Sources
Need to access original documents for your thesis, book or other scholarly research?  Online access to archival collections and other primary sources is increasing daily.  Let us show you some of the databases and websites that allow you to access  letters, diaries, manuscripts, photographs, reports,  newspapers, etc. to add authenticity to your research.  Presented by Geraldine Collins, MLS, MPA. Friday, October 16, 11 a.m. – noon.

PubMed
A hands on training session for persons in the health professions to learn the best techniques for searching the vast medical literature in the PubMed database. PubMed contains a wealth of scholarly articles on medicine, nursing, health, rehabilitation and health administration, but it can be time consuming for the novice searcher. FGCU’s Health Professions Librarian will demonstrate tips on the most effective searching for the quickest retrieval of information from PubMed, the database of medical literature  provided by the U.S. National Library of Medicine. Presented by Mary Kay Hartung, MPH, MLS. Wednesday, November 4, 1-2 p.m.
